VV Plant Project  Summer 2005 to Spring 2006
Goals:
  • To discover how individual members grow their plants
  • To explain and demonstrate the many different ways to grow African violet and streptocarpus plants
  • To learn culture methods to add to the care of our own plants
  • To share The Growing Experience with other group members
General Schedule (details below):
  • Choose plant , Sign In, and answer Plant Project Question #1.
  • Answer update questions.
  • Continue to grow until VV Virtual Show Spring 2006.
This project began July 1, 2005 and will continue until Spring 2006 Virtual Violet Show.
Please Note:
A new plant project will begin June/July 2006.  Details to be announced in May!

  "D.O.D" Plant Project Schedule
Intro-
duction
  • Choose one or more plants of the following types:
    • (vintage) any of the 'Original Ten' African violet varieties
    • (standard) any Olive Ma Robinson, Croteau, or Munk African violet variety
    • (semi or mini) any "Optimara Little ___" African violet variety, or Croteau variety
    • (other) any streptocarpus hybridized by Robinson or Dibley
  • You may purchase or trade for the plant/s or use a small plant you have grown.
  • We have chosen one specific variety in each type to be a 'project plant'.  Variety names:
    • (vintage)  Mermaid
    • (standard)  Robert Mayer or Apache Freedom
    • (semi or mini) Optimara Little Crystal
    • (other)  Gloria strep
  • You do not have to grow those specific varieties; you may choose any plant that fits the description of the types above. 
July 1-20, 2005 When you have the plant in your growing area:
1) Post a photo of the plant to the DOD Plant Project photo album.
2) Sign the DOD Plant Project Participants list.
3) Add your answers to the DOD Plant Project Question #1 on the DOD Plant Plant Project message board. 
August 2005 
through
February 2006
4) Post updates on your plant/s' progress.
Also, at this time, add a new photo of your plant, if possible.
5) Continue growing and pampering your plant/s.
Answer questions as they are posted.
March through
June 2006
6) We will begin to 'Grow to Show'.  You may use one of these projects plants to participate in the Grow To Show project.
7) A Project Summary Page will be permanently added to our group's informational pages.
EXTRA 
FUN:
Earn a FREE plant in 2006, IF you do all of the following:
  • Complete this plant project, beginning to end
  • Continue to grow at least one of your project plants
  • Enter the plant in our 2006 Virtual Violet Show, June 2006.
  • Only one FREE plant per member.
